Wrap up the summer with fun, music and food at Rock the Block, coming to downtown on Fourth Street for one night only Friday, Sept.19, from 6 to 11 p.m.
Like the original Rock the Block held a year ago to celebrate completion of the Fourth Street make-over, this edition of Rock the Block will feature four different stages offering four styles of live music - rock, country/Bluegrass, jazz/R&B, and shag/swing - plus new for this year, a hip-hop dance club!
There will be lots of food vendors, beer gardens, and an expanded children's area with more inflatables (including a climbing wall and a velcro wall!), games and activities. Many downtown
restaurants will be open again, and Films on Fourth will be screening "Camp" at the Stevens Center, starting at 5:30. JKS Motorsports will have its NASCAR trailer set up, Krispy Kreme will bring its doughnut "dipping station" and the painting wall will be back. Also new this year, the Winston-Salem Scholastic Chess Association is setting up chessboards for public play, and a giant video game will be set up at the corner of Trade and Fourth for older kids to
play, with all the action projected on the facade of the old Mother-Daughter store.
This edition of Rock the Block is being sponsored by the city, the Downtown Winston-Salem Partnership, WIST, WSJS, 94.5 The Beat, WTQR,WMAG, 100.3 The Buzzard, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Sara Lee Corp., Clear Channel Radio, Elevation Media, OneSource, Ikon, M Creative, and Hutchison Allgood. Last year's Rock the Block was the biggest block party the city
has ever had! If you missed it then, don't miss it again! Come downtown on Friday Sept. 19 and help ROCK the BLOCK!
